This week I had the privileged of interviewing Someone Special, He is a genius ,extremely talented with distinguishing success.it is worthy to add that he is very humble to letter, He is no other person than Emmanuel Alabi Onimisi(AkA Derock Bishop, Open Heavens)
Me: Can you tell us about yourself?
Bishop: My name is Emmanuel Onimisi Alabi, I was born to the family of Pastor and Pastor (Mrs) Alabi couple of decades ago, in Ilorin,Kwara state. I am the second child and the first son in a family of five children.
I had both my primary and secondary school education in Ilorin, Kwara State ,Nigeria. I also did my 'A’ level exams in Kwara state Polytechnic, before moving to Lagos in 2005 after gaining admission to study Computer science in Lagos state University, Ojoo.I am also happily married with three lovely children.
Me: Why are you called Derock Bishop?
Bishop: I am very passionate about music and I got into music fully while in University. I got the name Bishop while overseeing a church choir then and it practically stuck. While the name Derock was the name i carved out for myself while I was registering my Company, an Audio Recording studio in Lagos, Nigeria. It came from the inspiration that God is the vision of the studio and on Him, I build my trust on.
Me: What is the vision Behind Derock Entertainment?
Bishop: From on set I am music lover, and I play couple instruments like Keyboard. Years back, while trying to record some music with some artiste, I realised most of the audio recording studio I visited as people who where smoking, taking drugs and drinking and seeing Gospel artiste going into such studio drove me into establishing a Gospel Music Studio promoting gospel music. It is practically carving a niche for myself in the entertainment industry.
Me: What other services does Derock Entertainment renders?
Bishop: Derock Entertainment render different services from, Audio Recording Studio for gospel artistes, to Consulting services, training, installation of sound equipment for Churches and Corporate bodies, Events and live bands that plays at Wedding, Birthday parties, Naming ceremonies and any other special events, likewise rental services on all sound equipment.
Me: What are your notable achievements?
Bishop: I will say having the opportunity of working with a good number of Artistes both in Nigeria and overseas.
Me: Can we know them, please?
Bishop: I have been privilege to work with Olayinka, Danny Praise,Bukola Beke,Psalmos,Efe Nathan,Mario ESE,Uzo,Wole Ojo,Yetunde Are, Funke Adejimi, K Peace to mention a few.At the moment, I 'm working with three artistes in Norway at the moment, Pastor and Pastor(Mrs)Joseph Akinyele of Tonsberg International Church and Arild Stav( Music Legend here in Norway)
Me: Does it mean you can fly to any country in the World to work with any Gospel Artiste?
Bishop: OH, Definitely yes!(laughing),just call me and I will be there by God's grace.
Me: Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
Bishop:(Sighing)...I am looking at taking Derock Entertainment further by also establishing Derock Music Label with artistes to sign on, add value to, promote and establish.
Me: Where is your studio situated?
