Welcome to another moment, another interview with an upcoming Nigerian Gospel artiste. He is an Artiste cum Fashion Designer with a proven list of clienteles. He is no other person than Olayinka .
Can we know you?
My name is Olayinka Emmanuel Olayinka. I was born almost four decades ago in Kaduna State Nigeria. I was born into a family of four and I am the
third child of the family. I attended Army
Children Primary School, BEC International School, Barnawa in Kaduna and then I
went to Kaduna Polytechnic where I studied Science laboratory technology. I later
gained admission into the Lagos State University to study Microbiology.
Why
Music?
I will say I developed a great passion for music as
a teenager. I was privilege to be around musicians, and I had the opportunity
to watch and observe different people with musical instruments. That
environment was the breeding ground for me as I began to take more interest in
various instruments and from there on, I
learned how to play a couple of instruments like, Keyboard, Bass Guitar but the
major one that I play now is Lead guitar.
Was
there any early influence in Music?
My early influences are King Sunny
Ade, Evangelist Bola Are, Panam Percy Paul, Earl Klugh, and George Benson . These great people have made an indelible mark in my life.
Any
greatest achievement so far?
As a Gospel Artiste, I always try not to quantify my
achievement in monetary terms but seeing people blessed and souls lifted gives
me great joy.
What
is Olayinka style of Music?
I will say that I am blessed to play
and sing different genres of music. I have been privileged to play in Afro band,
Reggae band, and Makossa band. These have influenced my kind of music and have made a thoroughly bred musician. I play a
variety of songs and my kind of music is a blend of Jazz with an African touch.
In the Gospel category, I see Nathaniel Bassey as someone to look up to.
Any Music Album?
I have three albums. The first one in 2014 is titled:
Awesome God. The second one, launched in May 2016, is actually a double album titled:
Psalms, hymns & Spiritual songs and this featured James Beata. The third one is, power in the blood and featured Pastor Joseph Akinyele of Tonsberg Church Norway, Mairo ESE, Henry Praise to mention but a few. Derock MUSIC
has produced the three albums.
Any
other Gospel artiste you have worked with or featured in your Album?
I have had the opportunity of working with Bukola
Beke, Yetunde Are, Mairo Ese, Funke Adejimi, Danny Praize, K-Peace, and Evang Solomon Orete.
Aside
music, what else?
I am also a professional fashion designer; from
sketching to cutting and actual sewing. I have had the opportunity to sew clothes to
the presenters of KAKAKI, on the African Independent Television (AIT). In
addition, the male members of Midnight crew (Mike Abdul and Gbenga).
Where
do you see yourself in the next five years?
I see my music cutting across the whole world. I
just want to be blessing to people anytime they hear my music.
